What is EdX?

EdX believes that each of us has the spark to create change, whether in our own lives, our communities, or the world. It is the education with which you have the chance to unveil your hidden potential and access the power of transformation. However, not everyone can access quality education for one reason or another. If this is your case too, EdX has you covered.

From offering learning courses to some to all, edX has empowered millions and millions of learners to discover the spark within them and become agents of change.

What were the thoughts behind the creation of edX?

EdX made three commitments to the world and remained consistent. This consistency is the main reason for its popularity. Let’s take a look at these missions!

• Make quality education accessible to everyone, everywhere

• Promote online and on-campus learning and teaching

• Encourage advanced learning and teaching through research

Where did it all start?
Although the internet has played a notable role in enabling innovation in different industries, higher education was only accessible to a few inquisitive minds. With that in mind, one afternoon in a lab at MIT, Professor Anant Agarwal and his colleagues from Harvard and MIT devised a time-consuming experiment.

They developed a platform that would showcase their course online and be accessible to almost anyone for free. Later, in February 2012, EdX.org was expanded with the launch of Professor Agarwal’s MIT Circuits and Electronics course.

However, you can access the course material without restriction if the course has already started. Simply press the view course button and enter the course to begin the learning journey with the world famous platform, edX.

Can I start for free on EdX and pay later?

Hear us shout YES! This is because you can start your course in the audit rack and later move to the audited track. However, keep in mind that you pay before the upgrade deadline has passed.

Keep in mind that you do not have access to the graded assignments required to earn a certificate unless and until you upgrade to the verified track. The sooner you upgrade, the more time you have to progress towards obtaining the certificate.

In contrast, in self-paced courses, the upgrade deadline is set a short interval before the course end date. On the other hand, the deadline could be much earlier in the instructor-led course.

In conclusion, EdX is the best bet for learners because it offers a wide range of courses to enroll in. Whatever course you are looking for, you will most likely find it on this online platform. So find it now, register and open the doors to effective and advanced learning.
